A massive new plan that could deliver 3,500 new jobs, £25m of investment, and a new bridge over the A38 will be discussed by councillors next week.

South Hams District Council’s executive will be given an update on the progress of the proposed Plymouth and South Devon Freeport when they meet on January 27, 2022.

The outline proposals, which could mean 3,500 new jobs for the region and a new cycle link, have now been shared with central government, ahead of the Full Business Case (FB) set for submission in April.

A formal decision by the Council to proceed with the project is required by April 13, 2022, when the FBC must be submitted, with a positive decision is required by South Hams, as well as Plymouth City Council and Devon County Council if the Freeport plans were to go ahead.
